JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
JOB TITLE: Cook
Responsible for preparing food products that represent the standards for all restaurants, banquets, and a la carte services with quality, consistency, and surroundings in mind. Specific Responsibilities Prepare all foods necessary for service to the demonstrated culinary standards. Produce all quantities according to forecast and par levels. Ordering and Inventory Control Order according to established pars, where needed. Fill out proper prep lists daily to keep effective communication channels Rotate all food stocks (i.e. first in, first out). Assist in monthly inventory taking, if necessary. Ensure that foods prepared do not fall in the temperature danger zone and take immediate action if jeopardized. Practice safe food handling techniques always and in all venues. Maintain the knife safety standards outlined from knife safety training document. Utilize the safety stations and be aware of any current or potential hazards. Working knowledge of all equipment within your job duties. Know how to assemble, disassemble, and clean all equipment. Assist in the training of Cook I’s in culinary skill set, safety, and sanitation practices. Demonstrate working knowledge of dietary needs and its importance to proper and safe food handling. Gain exposure to other stations of home department and other departments around resort. Ensure that the ordering checklists and prep lists are adhered and up-to-date by all Cook I’s and II’s. Assist Chef with conducting monthly inventory taking, when needed. Be able to work stations in more than one outlet across resort. Aid in development of daily specials or menu additions with trends and innovation in mind.

JOB TYPE: Temporary with possibility of becoming permanente.
WAGE PER HOUR:
Entry level is $19, but individuals with greater culinary experience (even several years), we will gladly pay higher based on experience. The range can be up to $25 an hour, based on experience, but we need to see their resume to understand their background and demonstrate on the job.
HOURS PER WEEK: 40+
OVER TIME: Yes, not guaranteed. time and a half rates apply if over 40 hours.
Shifts vary from Monday-Sunday Workers will have two days free each week, but we cannot comment what two days are free (and they are not back to back weeks). Associates have the option to work additional days for overtime. Start/end times Will vary. The Schedule fluctuates each week. Each Thursday the schedule is posted for the following week. They can sign up for extra days of work.Very likely that will work over the weekend and on holidays.
PAYMENT DAYS: Biweekly
PAYMENT TYPE: Direct Deposit
If the individual chooses to have a formal 30 minute break, they can, but it is unpaid. Otherwise, they can take from 2 to 3 breaks of no more than 10 mins throughout the shift during the slow times.
A free meal would be provided to the worker throughout the shift in accordance to the break times.
JOB START DATE: June 8th, 2022.

Yes, preferred but not obligatory. No prior experience or 3-6 months of experience. Those who have more than one year experience could have an increased wage. Resume and on the job verification if a higher salary is requested. Applicants will be hired with the entry level salary $19 and credentials and experience should be proven on the job to have access to an increased wage per hour.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK:
Yes, the worker will provide a Certificado de Buena Conducta from the Puerto Rico Police Department, during the recruitment process, and Kohler will perform a Background Check upon arrival to the place of employment.
Must be able to stand, walk and be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a daily bases and during long periods.
Kohler requires as a company policy that all workers must be vaccinated. Fully vaccinated, no booster required at this point.
ENGLISH LEVEL REQUIREMENTS: Medium
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY: Must be conversational, must be able to read & write. They will be working in a kitchen with standards & expectations on foods being communicated. Along, with assisting with inventory & writing down dates.

DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED?:
Destination Kohler: At least 1 employee with driver’s license. Worker who drives the van must be in compliance with the rental car requirements.
Lodge Kohler: No drivers license required.
EQUIPMENT AND APPAREL
COMPANY UNIFORMS: We provide chef coat and hat, associates purchase their own black slacks. We provide a shoe voucher up to $50.
SAFETY APPAREL: Black non-slip resistant shoes.
DOCUMENTATION: Employee will provide all requested and proper documentation for employment during the recruitment and upon arrival. Kohler will provide the offer letter when they arrive in mainland US, for each individual to sign. Employment is conditional to fulfilling all requirements prior to and upon arrival.
PAID FLIGHT TO BUSINESS LOCATION?:
Employer will pay for inbound flight from place of recruitment to the closest airport to the place of employment.
PAID FLIGHT HOME: Only if the employee finishes the period of employment.
TRAVEL FOOD EXPENSE COVERED:
Employer will reimburse to the employee up to $50 dlls for the expenses the worker spends during the day of the flight from the place of recruitment to the place of employment. No alcoholic beverages covered. Employee must keep receipts for reimbursement.
MEAL UPON ARRIVAL: Yes
GROCERY STIPEND: Employer will provide a $100 gift card on day one, along with a small welcome basket (with non perishable foods).
TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORKSITE: Transportation to worksite will be provided through different options:
Shuttle: Employer will provide shuttle services;
Bus passes: Employer will provide monthly bus passes (free) for the associates to take to/from work.
Vanpool: Some employees with drivers’s license might be required to drive a van to/from work for other individual and himself. These employees who will drive must be in compliance with the requirements of the rental car company.
DESTINATION KOHLER: Kohler Medical is a team at Destination Kohler the individuals can visit if they are not feeling well. After consulting, for free, with Kohler Medical, they will issue a prescription and/or refer the individual to seek medical attention. Prescriptions can be filled at the pharmacy on campus and are paid for by the individual.
LODGE KOHLER: Not provided.
JOB PROMOTION POSSIBILITY: Yes, based on experience and how well they are doing. We conduct yearly merit reviews.
ADDITIONAL BONUSES: We will provide $100 when they arrive, $500 after 90 days and $500 after completing their contract.
PAID HOLIDAYS?: Given the industry, working holidays may be required at times, but if they do work a holiday, additional compensation is provided (time and a half)

FURNISHING: Bed, shower curtain, towels, bed sheets, pillows, kitchen, kitchen supplies. The Shared spaces are all for Kohler workers, not with other companies
Destination Kohler: Founders Club has a tv in the shared área.
Lodge Kohler: A tv is in the apartment but not in each bedroom.
LAUNDRY?: Yes, coin operated.
OTHER SERVICES: Gym, Movie center & game room, only at Founders Club.

DISCIPLINE: If separating from employer the candidate will have 72 hours to vacate. If damage of the property employee will be held responsible & this will affect their security deposit. A secrurity of $5 is withheld each pay check until the associate reaches $250 (security deposit amount). Upon checking out they receive the $250 refunded back to them, unless damages occur, at which point money is deducted from the deposit.
